Harmonicanick. Thanks. I agree it's a great double CD. It's nice and varied too. Some original blues and some great original melodies. One of my favourite players with superb tone on MB's.

email me and I'll see if I can find it and send it to you.

Grey Owl- loved it. Your the man! And you nonchalantly had a coffee break at the intermission. Too bloody good. Can I ask your recording set up eg mic, interfaces etc. I presume its direct into computer? Audacity? Great playing & great sound.

I did a hunt for the JJM CD but can't find it here on itunes?

Rubes> no it was probably a nip of Gordons G&T knowing the Poms! I was just being polite. Anyway we have tea in our coffee breaks. Used to say going for a smoko but thats not politically correct anymore.

Grey Owl That mic looks dangerous more like like a piece of military machinery & the mount even more so. Very impressive.

Cheers guys!!

@ Groyster1. For my blues throat vibrato I’ve got to say I’ve forgotten how that came about….It was a long time ago :) I wasn’t taught it. It kind of just evolved.

I am calling everything Vibrato here for simplicity.

I am just starting to use diaphragm vib. and that took a little while to get comfortable with and I have to relax, then it flows easier. Blow was easier for me than draw – still working on this.

The jaw vib. which isn’t featured on this song is a technique I’d like to develop more. I first heard it demonstrated by Buddha and it sounds great.

No one can say this little instrument doesn’t offer heaps of challenges.

Aussie:-I run my equipment into line-in on my crappy onboard pc soundchip.
The interface I use to run into the pc is an old Fostex X28 four track (audio tape) analogue recorder.

I sometimes plug a mic into one of the Fostex inputs to produce a dry sound.

Sometimes I play through my Vox DA5 (5W guitar amp) and add delay and select one of the preset voices of which there are many(clear sound, Blues, High Gain, Drive etc.,Then line out of the amp into the Fostex.

On other occasions I play through on old Alesis Reverb unit into Fostex etc.,

The ‘Military Mic’ (It uses Double A rounds) :) is a small Sony condenser mic that I bought with a minidisk player.

My other mic’s are Green Bullet, AKG AT8033 Condenser mic and another AKG condenser. I don’t use Audacity for recording because I don’t know how to sync the audio with the video yet. I’d certainly like to use it to apply post recording adjustments. I have recently bought a Zoom H2N recorder so I’m ready to try it.

I play the backing track on my pc, then play along and monitor with headphones and I use a bog standard Logitech webcam.

I’m still messing around with this recording malarkey and have to say it’s still a bit ‘hit & miss. I often get some unwanted peaking.

Rubes :) Earl GREY perhaps. Aussie:- Gordons Gin? – Not before 10 am mate!

ps Aussie: I don't know about Itunes. I bought the double CD online.

Thanks GreyOwl for the info.

Quote from GreyOwl 'I have recently bought a Zoom H2N recorder so I’m ready to try it.'

Fantastic piece of equipment the ZoomH2. I think of just about all my stuff the H2Zoom is irreplaceable. The N I think is the latest model.

I was looking at condenser mics & had made my mind up to purchase the Blue Yeti. I went to a large prof music
recording outlet to buy one and the guy went through all my gear &
said I already had a Yeti with the possibilities of the H2Zoom being used as a USB mic. The Yeti offered exceptional quality but I was told the Zoom works just as well for quality home recording use. I have yet to try it as I bought it years ago from Amazon and it came with US power adapter. I always ran it on batteries but I now need the correct Oz adapter (on order) to update its software to run as a mic with Windows 7.

I understand your concerns with syncing Audacity with video. I try not to feature myself preferring to use another hobby of photography & travel as the video + a tune I have recorded in Audacity so syncing is not important.

I also am messing around with this 'recording malarkey' as my amp blew up & my new one has lousy tone. I am mucking about with an ART Pre Amp but it seems to have little or no impact. I was recording using a Fireball or a Shure mic via a delay into my amp into which I also fed my backing from an ipod. I then captured through the air into the H2Zoom & downloaded into Audacity. In Audacity any changes I make impact on the backing as well so I'm now looking to record direct into the computer on separate tracks. Lots of gear out there @#$&*^ bloody confusing for a mug like me?

Aussie:- Yes I agree, there's a world of stuff to learn on recording/gear now, as if the playing the harp not enough of a challenge!
