It's possible that nobody is doing more than Mark Hummel right now to keep blues harp music--LIVE music, in the big-show format--alive and rocking.
Please take a look at his website, if you haven't done that. He may well be bringing his show, some version of it, to a theater near you this spring or summer:

Mark does a great job in appealing to a wide audience. He brings in some great Blues players and some players who appeal to the hardcore harp nerds. I've seen some fantastic players at Hummel's Blowouts. ---------- The Blues Photo Gallery

IMO, Mark is an unsung hero in the blues harp world. Not only has his band been a proving ground for many players that went on to become "names" in the blues world, but his playing is also amazing - another player with an endless source of ideas and strong groove momentum. ---------- The Iceman

Mark sold out the Three Stages venue in Folsom, CA, which seats 950 people. Great show with Billy Boy Arnold and Charlie Musselwhite.
Also saw Mark in Winters, CA last year with Andy Santana. Magic Dick, and Lazy Lester.
Mark is, of course, a geat player himself.

His "Unplugged - Back Porch Music album" is a great album. The first track is one of my all time favorites.

Mark Hummel is kind of role model for me. I really appreciate his work, the way he works as a bandleader, booking gigs, organising events, and managing relationships. I appreciate that he is willing to share his experience as well. ----------
