Hi all,

I am currently very much enjoying working with Jimi Lee's GrooveTrax.

I'm working on CD1, track 7: Teen Beat in E, and trying different approaches. I would like to see different possibilities on how people have played on this groove: can anybody direct me to actual songs using this particular groove ?

Many thanks!

I don't have Jimi Lee's Groovetrax, but I suspect it's probably based on Little Walter's Teenage Beat.

Walter is playing a chromatic here. I hope it inspires you!

thanks jdblues - that's actually not it - but really a cool track that I am glad you put up!
cheers

Jimi Lee defines "Teen Beat" as the popular 60's rock beat where the snare hits on 2, the "and of 2", and on 4.

Thanks Jim Rumbaugh - what I am looking for is an actual recording with blues harp (or rock blues) with this particular groove. Any example ?

It's a nice groove, something like the Fabulous Thunderbirds mixed with a hint of Dick Dale

Can't say I've heard a similar groove with harp, all I'd suggest is definitely syncopating against the groove and working the offbeats. Playing riffs that land on the snare beat wouldn't add much.

thanks GamblersHand - yep, I was sort of trying that, the emphasizing up beats and holding onto the notes.
Will try some more stuff! I am kinda fore feeding myself on this track, but may be I'll just move on if I can't get no new stuff coming out :)

Jerry Lee Lewis
"Whole Lotta Shakin' Going On"

We play that tune with our club. It's NOT a classic harp tune, but I really enjoy it.
