I use Audacity for home recording into which I download tracks recorded via an amp through the air into H2Zoom.
Recently I purchased an ART MP pre amp in the hope of using it as an interface to link either my Shure or Fireball mic direct into my PC &/or laptop. I was hoping to achieve a recording which separates the tracks ie backing tracks on my PC from my recorded tracks which I could edit and apply effects etc. Currently when I edit everything incl backing track is changed.
I am finding that the ART Pre Amp is useless and the sound quality via the sound card is not good.
From my research I have been led in 2 directions ie 1) upgrade to a top of the range sound card or 2)purchase a good quality USB Mic?
I currently have an el cheapo $50 USB Logitech mic which surprisingly is excellent for speach, skype etc but also gives a better result for recording than my current method. The quality though is not there.
In looking at USB mics I am tempted by what I read about the Blue Yeti USB Condenser mic? Does anyone have any experience with this mic? The Blue Yeti is available from Amazon for $100 but they are restricted/ disallowed by supplier to ship it to Australia. In Oz the Yeti sells for $279 - $309 price range. Before I splurge I want some surety?
