Steve Chacon is a young player that I met a few years back at one of Gindick's camps. He came to Hill Country last year and interviewed a lot of us quite extensively. Howard Levy is also part of this. Steve is working up a documentary and he's seeking funding. I hope that folks will take a look at this very short reel, get excited, and give him a few $$:

Mississippi Saxophone: Modern Harmonica Masters PROMO from Steve J Chacon on Vimeo.

Here's a YouTube version of the same thing:

Like belfast_harper, I liked Deak's groove and decided to work on it. When looking to expand it, I decided to combine Deak's riff with a Sonny Terry riff used as background music in the movie "Crossroads." A slight problem with my choice was that the Deak Harp and Sonny Terry riffs don't quite sync up ... the Sonny Terry riff is fast and works best with a relatively high-pitched harp (he uses Db); Deak's riff is slower and works best with a low-pitched harp (he uses G).

So I met the two in between (used a Bb harp, and slowed down Terry & sped up Deak), plus came up with transitional riffs, and I altered the groove of each so they "fit" together. (Or so I'd like to think!) Thought I'd be bold and post it here.

@eharp: I tried to donate too, but on the indiegogo.com/MississippiSaxophone site, there doesn't seem to be a way to donate anymore--and in the upper right, the text says that there's "0 time left" to donate. So I sent a private note to the filmmaker, Steve Chacon, but no response yet (after about a week).

like many, many movies and documentaries- if they cant find people to pay for the marketing it dies on someone's media center in their living room.
the target audience is small, no real names on either side of the camera....somebody play taps!

The "Pocket Full of Soul" movie website (pocketfullofsoulmovie.com) has a FAQ page. Here's a copy and paste:

Q: Is the film out yet?
A: No, unfortunately the film is not out yet.

Q: Why not?
A: Please be patient, it will be worth it. Those that have seen the film have loved it.

Q: How can I see the film?
A: We have done limited test screenings around the globe and may try to schedule one in your area. Please join our website for test screening dates and other cool harmonica information and updates.

Q: Is there anything I can do to bring a screening to my area?
A: Yes, please contact us (info on contact page) and let us know your interest. We will discuss with you and hopefully be able to schedule a test screening.

Q: I love the harmonica – is there anything I can do to help?
A: Yes, we could always use support and encouragement. Buy a t-shirt, email your friends about the film, if you know Bruce Willis, Elwood Blues, Neil Young, Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Toots Thielemans and/or Stevie Wonder, please call them and let them know that we want them to be in our film.

Q: I am a very successful Hollywood producer and/or I have a lot of money from a sunken treasure and would love to put it into the film because I believe this film should be seen around the world – is this something that would interest you?
A: Yes, please contact us (info on contact page).

Todd, that is nice playing in your video, I need to go back and work on that groove again.

have a listen to Drink, Drink, Drink by Robert Diggs, I posted a video on the foot stomping solo harmonca thread.

I think that was the influence for Deak's Groove.
