Some people are way more committed to busking than others. . .

Bagpipes, bugles, drums, and fife have been used on the battlefield for centuries, why not a guitar?

Haven't I read somewhere that harmonicas have actually saved lives because they were in a breast pocket & deflected a bullet?
I think a harp in a neck rack and a rifle instead of a guitar might be a more secure choice!

Perhaps this would be a good choice of instrument?

Maybe I've watched too much QuickDraw McGraw, but can't he unleash a giant KABONG with that thing?

My son saw this photo and suggested the tune may be "Praise the lord and pass the ammunition"

Singing "War, what is it good for? Absolutely nothin'!"
Don't think he'd want passers-by shelling out though. ----------

jbone,
the photoshop giveaway: position of guitar man's hands and fingers exactly as you's expect if he were holding an assault rifle, not a guitar. Unless of course, he's playing "Tight Grouping Blues".

It's definitely fake, there's no way that guy's playing a nylon strung in a war zone. Gotta go for heavy gauge steel. ----------

I was convinced by comments above that this photo was fake so I tried to use the watermark to find the Getty Images photo it was photoshopped from. Instead I found more photos from this shoot by Aris Messinis.

 Caption:
National Transitional Council fighters fire against Moamer Kadhafi's troops in the town of Sirte on October 10, 2011, as they move in for the kill against the strongman's remaining diehards. AFP PHOTO / ARIS MESSINIS (Photo credit should read ARIS MESSINIS/AFP/Getty Images)
If this is not real it is a very elaborate deception.
The images will not show but if you want to see them go to
http://www.gettyimages.com/Search/Search.aspx?query=z.i.H4sIAAAAAAAEAOy9B2AcSZYlJi9tynt_SvVK1-B0oQiAYBMk2JBAEOzBiM3mkuwdaUcjKasqgcplVmVdZhZAzO2dvPfee--999577733ujudTif33_8_XGZkAWz2zkrayZ4hgKrIHz9-fB8_In7dfLn91es_58_-7X-PX-PXPVtkF_mv-Wv8Gr_GY_r_b3xcF036Rd40xbJofs0RPo8_-OaT13lWT-dfFLNZmb8p8nr8Kj8vlvkiX7ber6fLtr7-9fW9X_fT3Z39h7_u82JynVno5pdfM6mrqn2Z1dmi-XX0s18L_9_dwa-_mWn_u5tffutfw0D8jem3X-_d6-vm9J2B-Gt6fzOk7Nz8-mvq7wD-a2fnU4uJ-QP__7Xxc4f7X7TuzUVrUPstfg2LGv-653695369z7_-OgS4tEDsX-jj16U_6oWlQfgn6PZr7uKvX48_n1gYnb_5tfMQiv2ToexYKOcdKO5vfq225Aj_ZCh7FkrdgeL-JirmFhP88WvrH0zSXfz2G5q2mDieB6JJvjKf_prBX792PmnsN-YPnpjc4eD9_mvlrrn3-6_drFb2c_xhcPyt7IuXU_fi5dSg_Vvi7x372779jYfy61S1x3T2L_5qkvtfmb_w_Nqzq6X5_dc0f4Czfp1m7Y02-OvXzjOHn_8H_b7yv7B__LpNAC3889d-9-y5myb6w36R1R5u3h-_UTOtVvmT9ZIE3kENPjUAfxxwHuzcx--_DnHY2jYP_vp15rX8IRTCXwbCx4Cwt_cQvxMTORH0__j1XuRXedP-PwEAAP__juXQy9IEAAA.&rid=731604&rcat=Location&rt=Sirte#2
Scroll down about two thirds of the page and there are the images taken in sequence.
I was expecting to see the original photo with a rifle but here are more photos, from what I expect is a trustworthy source, of the guitar player. I think this photo is the real deal. I find it odd that the caption does not mention the guitar, perhaps this is commonplace in Lybian street battles.

He's a bard!
The Dobro was created before electric instruments to get the instruments volume above the crowd. What type of amplification to you need for a war zone?
Music has been a part of war since the beginning.
