I converted all the notes I had on John Popper's rig - literally 10years of notes - to a blog. It contains detailed notes from John himself, his road crew, and a buddy of mine who has sat in with JP reguarily (Rob Lowe).

I doubt it will get updated frequently, unless I get more info somehow.

This covers EVERYTHING I can think of and includes a lot of PICS including shots of his settings.

I've shared some playing resources and tabs too...anything I had easily accessible. If I get bored some day, I might dig up some of the hardcopy info I got...or maybe Winslow would have something to share from his tab book or interviews with JP?

I am not looking to make a lot of work out of this stuff...I just happened to have it all saved to copy/paste to a site.

Lots of stuff to dig into. Very nice.

One question. This jumps out at me. North Hollywood Shootout, Orange In The Sun:G#

Is G# referring to an Ab or should it be F#? (Don't have that album/song to check)

Ab

I love that song. I used to sing it to my daughter all the time...when she'd actually cuddle before bed. Now that she can get around (1.5yrs), she is go-go until she crashes, lol.

I think his original rig was conservatively estimated at $17,000. Now, it would be much cheaper as it is downsized.

The easiest way to replicate this is to use a clean amp/keyboard amp/monitor with multi-fx.

The only effect he uses that I really really wanted and couldn't fake was the Eventide pitchshifted delays.

A dude named Dean Blues built his own mic like that. Me, I'd just use the pedals.

Regarding his playing, it took me like 5yrs, but I got a fair amount of it figured out. I really don't play like that, as I simply can't do the same embellishments, but he is by far my biggest inspiration for his high end playing. I tend to stick to less speed and note choice, but the foundation is the same.

I don't think too many harp players would realize that, but every time I do a rock show, people bring up the commonality....and I usually do RunAround and Hook...and versions of their covers, lol.

Thanks, Chinn.

We had a late start due to weather, so I decided to create a related page on my site. www.mikefugazzi.com/gearandeffects has info on my POD HD500, JP's gear, and a bunch of embedded Youtubes from guys like Chris Michalek, Richard Hunter, Dan Treanor, and Jason Ricci on what effects they use and how.

While I realize that just about anything can work for direct recording in either real time or post production, I am trying to share as much giggable info as possible there.

So, as far as I know, all the at home demos I list are from guys that have had success using those items live, etc. IMO, using gear like this live is where the biggest deficit in information resides.
