Then how would you us it? Blues harp with shruti box? I have an old one that I bought in India in 1979. I'm curious about what you're imagining. Minor key playing? 3rd position? Lee Oskar natural minor harp? Interesting idea. Maybe I'll have to fiddle around some, although I'm not very good with 3rd position, and I don't have any LO minors. And I don't have a neck rack either, so for the time being there wouldn't be anything I could do. ---------- Matthew

oh cool can you open it up and take pics? ive seen some that only have 3 reeds. what i was thinkin was. i use a flat back tanpura tuned DAAD i play mainly the two Ds with thumb and middle finger to get a growling drone. the tanpura sits in my lap and i play harp with my left hand and sing on the road again. i do a bit of slide on the tanpura at the end using the harp as a slide.
but this smaller and i think i can make one out of a cigar box. usually harp with accordion violin or saxophone hits a train wreck. but im thinking like just a basic drone chord like GDB(C) or more combinations just to have a drone to jam on top of. but yeah it does have kindof a minor sad sound so yeah maybe thirdposition. ive never opened one up so i have no real plan just an idea. maybe a way of sticking a harp in one side permanently with just a few holes open. i dunno.

Howard Levy has an electronic shruti box. He demonstrates playing over it in fifth and twelfth positions in the HLHS.

doesnt look like rocket science. im thinking cardboard and a cheap shower curtain for the bellows.
