Cool Rick Estrin track with the Igor Prado band here. Great harp and guitar, great phrasing, great showmanship. Estrin has a very distinctive sound - there's a lot of subtlety going on in the way he glides into and shapes notes, also in the way he changes up the dynamics.
A good example of how less can be more. I think it was Junior Wells who said something like: "You can play just one note, but play the hell out of it". Mr. Estrin exemplifies this approach here. No flash. No mind boggling virtuosity. Just solid, soulful, from the heart, straight ahead down home blues. He has my vote. ---------- Matthew
The thing I notice about this is an that there are a lot of identifiable blues licks, but they've got Estrin stamped all over them. He makes the existing language sound new.
