I recently stumbled across a long blog entry of Jason's that might be of interest here. I wasn't familiar with half of the items he lists as his "favorite harmonica solos." Anyway, here's the link:

I am a passive member here but I must comment that this is real neat to read. These are someones thoughts. Frozen in time. Plastic (formable/able to change) as they may be, they are a real interesting insight into a person I personally do not know but like very much. I enjoy looking at photos of complete strangers as well. It opens up a different world for me. What is he/she thinking about? Smiling. Are they really happy? Nice dog ... I like black and white photos. They are not as loud and they have more to say.
I think Jason is a very interesting human - a mensch.

Cool. I'm glad to read the names of some musicians that are important for me too, like Nina Simone, Roland Kirk or Alan Wilson.

@Bruce -
Mensch is a really bad choice of words. He is a great player and supremely talented, but recent events would show "mensch" is really not the best description to use.

I am an American that has lived in Germany for 25 years. I remained here after serving in the armed forces. When someone here says "he/she is a mensch" it means a lot and is a very big compliment. In my book Jason is a mensch - a real down to earth human being that has opened himself to the world, gives himself unselfishly. How "menschlich" is that? To be thought of as a mensch in Germany is not negative. Are you knowledgeable in the German language and customs? Please use your own description as mine is taken - it is very appropriate for Jason. He loves cats. Mensch! Perhaps I should say Super Mensch!

I know it is a positive statement. I've know it to mean a person of good character and a good friend. I thought you were being sarcastic because of his legal problems, some which involved friends. Super mensch, No. Super harp player, Yes.

RT thanks for your understanding. Yeh, as I stated I do not know Jason personally but think he is a very special person. As far as his legal issues and personal problems I know nothing. It is interesting what he blogged back then. He is a very good harp player! Jeder mensch hat seine Macken. Ha ha!! Take care and keep your lips to the metal bro.
