I am looking for a harp/distortion pedal for my virbo champ. I am using a boss dd-2 delay. Wondering if one pedal is best over another with this tube amp.

What kind of mic are you using? You should be able to get a fair amount of grit through a VC without a distortion pedal. I've played/owned 4 tolex Champs and all would bark with a relatively clean SM57. ---------- Mike VHT Special 6 Mods Quicksilver Custom Harmonicas - When it needs to come from the soul...

I agree with Mike. Get a nice tight cup on your microphone and the amp should break up nicely.

Have you tried tube swapping the pre amps tubes ax7,s to ay7 ,s ?You will be able to get more headroom out of the amp, hence cranking the volume knob higher which should make the amp break up a little more.If I,m not mistaken the higher the volume on those low watt amps will give you more breakup/distortion before feed back.I,ve played through our drummers V.champ a while back with stock tubes(ax,s)and it had a very nice natural distortion,of course at a lower volume, not a band situation. They,re a great little harp amp with the right mic and proper cupping tecnique.I would think that any kind of a distortion pedal would ruin the natural distortion that can be had out of the V.C.JMO BTW does this spam protection suck ,or are my new glasses failing me?Third time is a charm.

BigDaveD - Turn the amp volume as high as you can before feedback, turn the bass up high (around 7-9), keep the treble off, don't bother using the vibrato in the amp. Then just plug in your mic, and work on getting a good tight cup. You could also try swapping out the 7025 preamp valve for either a 12AY7, 5751 or 12AT7. Other than that it should sound great with any Hi-Z mic you plug into it. On the delay I'd set it short to begin with and then just keep adding a little until you get the "flavour" you're looking for.
