I intend on putting new valves on one of my chromatics, and I've heard good things Seydel Saxony Valves. But the problem is that I'd be putting them on a 16 hole chromatic, and Seydel only makes 12 hole chromatics. So I'm wondering if I order the Saxony valves, will any of the valves be long enough to cover the lowest 4 holes? I'm assuming they won't be long enough because they come already cut to fit the slots of the Seydel 12 hole chromatics. I know Jim uses them quite a bit, maybe he can confirm whether or not they'll work.
I suppose I could use the Hohner valves on lowest 4 holes, and then use seydel valves for the rest. But the problem is that the Seydel valves are expensive. They cost quite a bit more than the Hohner "High End" valves. So it makes me wonder if it's even worth the extra money.

no problem, bro
there's so many valves in the package that you can valve all your chroms and diatonics.

But will they be long enough to cover the lowest holes of a 16 hole chromatic? Thanks for your help.
EDIT: I think (due to your relationship with seydel) they may be giving you more valves than they would normally include in a set. It says they give 6 valves per reed length (not per reed), and they only valve the first 11 holes, so that works out to 66 valves. In order to valve the first 11 holes of a 12 hole harmonica, you need to use 44 valves.
EDIT PART 2: I just re-read it and it says it includes 6 valves per chanel/length. When they say "channel" that makes me think they mean the channels/slots on both the top and the bottom of the comb. Which would mean you'd actually get 122 valves, which is a much better deal.

yes they will cover any slot length.
EDIT1: nom no one will be re-packing stock sealed packages, not for dealers, not for endorsers :-D
EDIT2: you get more than enough valves, trust me. I count 132 valves total. ----------

Oops! You're right, it's 132. I majored in mathematics, you'd think I'd be better at mental arithmetic : /
One last question: What's the length of the longest valves in the set? On my 16 hole chromatic, the longest valves are 2 inches long (50.8 mm).

50mm :-DDDDDD
c'mon - you're flattering yourself.
valve #1 is 21mm which is more than enough for any reed length.

OOps. Once again I managed to screw things up. I meant 1 inch, not 2. So it's 25.4 mm long.
I think 21 mm will be just a little too short for the reeds in hole 1. The slots themselves are 21mm, so that doesn't leave any room to glue the valves on.

so now the reed is 25.4mm long - and the slot is just 21mm ?

No, the valves that are currently on it(for hole 1) are 25.4 mm. As you know the valve needs to be longer than the slot so that you can glue it onto the reedplate.
