This was 100% recorded direct from the POD. The delay, room reflections, etc, were all done straight to board. I recorded it through Audacity and did zero mixing. ---------- Mike VHT Special 6 Mods Quicksilver Custom Harmonicas - When it needs to come from the soul...

Thanks for that Mike. What were the delay settings? Sounds good. I recently bought a Zoom G3 which I am having fun with. Amp modelling has certainly come of age!

Analog Delay 255ms Feedback 11% Bass 50% Treble 50% Level to taste...usually 15-20%
It took a while to start dialing it in, but I am confident I could use it live now. It took a long time to figure out, though, and I still have to give it more time.
Everything sounds different at home as it is a small room, etc. That being said, I am using the monitor I use live and try to get it to gigging volumes when I can.
The best part is using it in stereo. When I step on the expression pedal, I get a long ping pong delay...really cool. ---------- Mike VHT Special 6 Mods Quicksilver Custom Harmonicas - When it needs to come from the soul...

No enough edge for my taste. No enough tone responce. Muddy. So I suppose it's just the way you set up knobs. Wait for more samples, especially in a band context. ---------- Excuse my bad English. Click on my photo or my username for my music.

What were you listening to for playback?
The space I have for jamming at home is less than ideal for recording, so I wouldn't be shocked if I mixed everything too dark but it sounded bright enough in the room.
When I playback through studio headphones, it always sounds muddier and wetter than live, but I maybe not compensating enough there either.
The patch has very low treble and presence settings admittedly. I need to get some studio monitors and work on the room (which is long and narrow with only 8' ceilings). I'll try to remix the POD with headphones tonight for comparison.
The nice thing about the HD is that if I started soundchecking at a venue, I can just turn up the treble or presence just like a real amp. It is harder to tweak the effects live, though.
The only con when working with it so far is that the bass can be overwhelming. It puts out a lot of bottom end compared to an actual amp and typical amp settings.
I got my HG2 set up next to the K10 this past weekend, so that will be the next set of tests. I am hoping to use the POD live on the 25th, but if I have any reservations, my old board is ready to go in its place.
***I am giving it a listen on my MacBook...I don't think it sounds muddy. IMO, it sounds like a warm, cleanish blues sound. Granted, that isn't entirely what I am after (and I realize you aren't either), but it fit the blues playing in the clip really well. My only knock on it is the bass is maybe too hot. I can hear the speakers on the MacBook distort a bit...the more I listen to it, the more it sounds like a good blues harp sound.
I am going to lower the bias and try to increase the gain...maybe add some presence. I have been working on a Carlos Del Junco inspired patch (clean Bassman through Greenback speakers with tape delay), but it wouldn't be my default OMB harmonica sound. I also have a third patch that is a combination of a Supro and Gibson amp in stereo. It has much more drive, but again, I probably have little use for it.

If the kids allow me 10min to jam tonight, I will record the K10 with a room mic too. ---------- Mike VHT Special 6 Mods Quicksilver Custom Harmonicas - When it needs to come from the soul...

So I'm waiting for more results. Besides trebles I disliked response to yor breath. I like when amp or pedal or emulation (and even a harp) change tone at different volume levels. E.g. more edge on accents. As far as I remember POD HD can do that. My HarpAttack do that really good. ---------- Excuse my bad English. Click on my photo or my username for my music.

I read through the advanced user's manual last night and became very confused. I then, by total chance, came across a site that a user made explaining in easier terms what the amp knobs do and how to start creating a patch.
I had the patch set-up all wrong. It isn't very intuitive, as it is not how a real amp works, but the channel volume and master volume are backwards.
In otherwords, I had the power tube distortion as high as it could go with the maximum amount of signal hitting the power section. That amp has been cranked to 10 with the hottest possible mic signal and a compressor cranked to squash dynamics. The reason it doesn't sound buzzier is because the drive is set so low and the x-bias is acting like a compressor squashing the tone.
On a real amp, like a Blues Jr., you'd probably dime the master for harmonica to negate that circuit and then adjust the volume/drive to taste. On something like a Mesa Boogie (which I once owned), you'd do the same thing and then balance the drive and channel volume.
On the POD HD, you actually control the output volume hitting the mixer via the channel volume, the gain via the drive, and the power section via the master. None should be turned all the way up as it will cause clipping with the effects coming after the amp (which is where I have the delay).
Once the tone is shaped, it is better to increase volume via the mixer section. I had the mixer at unity gain, which wouldn't work for using direct to a powered speaker (but would going to the board FOH).
I think I get the concept now, and it seems like a lot of people reading the user manuals end up doing what I did and then complaining about not being able to get a clean tone or dynamic attack.
