I want to put together a traditional fox chase/lost john piece, but I can't seem to get the rhythm right.

Does anyone know of any good lessons on youtube for this sort of thing?

Here's Paul lamb doing some.
The last one is my sad attempt at a tutorial.

Jason has got one up too. I'm on my phone so I can't embed or do anything useful right now. Search for fox chase and Jason ricci and I think you'll find it.

Just watching and listening to Joe is a lesson in it self-you need to pay close attention at the start of the video-"I'm not moving"

Thanks for the replies, there is some useful things there that I can add into my lost john.

The rhythm that I am trying to get is the one that Joe Filisko, I think is the way they are traditionally played.

I think the fox chase is played mostly on the 3 blow and the draw chord, I just can't get seem to the articulation right to get the same sort of sound Joe is getting.

Thanks

Martin

Wow cheers for Paul Lamb!
And damn, that Joe Filisko's is good. But that snippet is more a magic trick, than an explanation/tutorial. Too bad the audio is so low quality. unmistakably these are the real deal. Lot of replay value all this clips!

If I don't remember wrong, I think Hakan Ehn has a fox chase-lesson on his YT-channel complete with tabs..

Just checked it. He has put out a three-part lesson on it:)
