Sounds like it was a tight competition this year. Nobody from this state- Arkansas- nailed any awards but we had several competitors from different blues societies in the state go and compete.
Our latest cd, Jawbone and Jolene: Lifestyles of the Poor and Infamous- made it into the top 30 for Best Self Produced CD honors. not quite to the finals but we were totally amazed and thrilled that we landed someplace between #30 and #6 World Wide!

we're planning ahead for next year, either a new cd or a fresh band to compete locally and make a Memphis trip in a year!

We're very proud of Paula Harris - our local chapter entrant taking 3rd place overall. She doesn't have a harp player in her band.... but the girl can sing and she surrounded herself with great musicians. If any of y'all are within driving distance of Redwood City, Paula and her band happen to be the host band at the Redwood City Blues Jam this coming Wednesday 2/8. They'll do a set from 7-8 and come back for more around 9:30.

I have to make a special mention that in the solo/Duo category, Sydney based Duo "Dr Don's Double Dose" were the ONLY international act from both the band and solo/duo spots that made it to the finals and came Second!

Don Hopkins is a brilliant Pianist and has a mighty amazing voice!

There is a wealth of talent in Oz when it comes to blues and roots music.
