I had a chance to see Kim Wilson's blues band(Richard Innes drums, Kirk Fletcher guitar, Larry Taylor bass and Barrelhouse Chuck in piano)in Seattle last night. I was 10' from the band. The audience seems to be full of harp players.
It really was as good as it gets. All the players (except Kirk) showed off what 30+ years of playing professionally sounds like. Kim played with the mastery rarely seen in a blues harp player. Sticking every note, every chord, with horn tone for miles. Rock Solid. A tongue blocking clinic.
He played through two Fender Deville's, with what looked like a tape delay. He had a gnarly looking EV mic he used when he played his big chromatic.
To me this was a departure from the T-Birds, and a welcome one. I left feeling like I should put all of my gear on ebay tomorrow.

I wonder if the tape delay was one of those old Echoplexes?

I just went searching and found a new unit calld the Fulltone. Has anybody tried these?

Sorry to hijack! I just don't remember the topic of tape delays coming up. I've only heard guys use them live once or twice; the sound is amazing when they're used properly.

Adam,
The link you posted looks very much like what he had sitting on his amps. But I'm not positive. He seemed to be adjusting a knob on the side a couple of times. It also had a cover like the unit illustrated.

This was more than likely the setup Kim was using-
a Kinder AFB+,an old A/B box and a Kinder Midbass cut-

Re: Tape delays. In the late 70s and early 80s I used to sit in with a band that had a Roland Space Echo on the PA and I'd play through the PA. Wow! Wonderful sound!

Carlos Del Junco used to tour with one of the Roland tape units, although I think he uses their newish digital version now.
