Here are some from this morning. For the guitar I am using a point to point hand wired 5 watt tube amp my friend built. He has been making tube amps since the 50's (use to own a TV repair shop and a ham radio guy). This one has an 8 inch speaker in it and was specifically aimed at harp players. He sells them pretty darn cheap if anyone is intersted. He has an entire line of tube amps with the one I am using the smallest. I had the volume on 3. This amp reminds me of a vintage fender champ and when pushed gets distorted fat. Walter

I don't understand how you do this Mr. Tore.. You just never drop your instruments from your hand? Over a million songs, and although I've (obviously) not heard every song of yours, it's clear how much feelings you put in each song.. So very impressive.. You deserve some kind of award for all this work!

tolga7t: thanks for the compliment. I have a detached recording studio on my property. For 20 years I played 200+ gigs a year around the world. Now I play 3-15 hours a day recording my music in my studio after I am done with work, on weekends/vacations. It feels just as good as the great live gigs. I miss playing live to people but have no interest in doing it anymore unless the scene is receptive to how I do music. Otherwise it has no meaning to me and to lug all my 1 man band gear around at my age is a hassle unless the gig is a good one.

I have been spontaneously making up words and music since as long as I can remember. I walk into dreams and feelings floating around the universe. My entire day is series of songs. I still don't understand why others aren't doing this full time. Life is one song after another. I will never be able to capture all the songs that go through me. I do about 300-400 cds a year and that is just the tip of the iceberg. I use to put a lot of hope and energy into making spontobeat a reconized form of music. People tend to want to know exactly what they are going to hear when going out to see live music. For it to be totally spontaneous scares them. Heck I probably will end up singing about the stuff in their lives. That for me is a great connection with others but have come to found out for most it is not welcomed.

I was always fighting an uphill battle with the music industry, average listeners, and just about everybody but winos (to pickled to know if your song was rehearsed or not) children, the mentally disabled, and dogs. Now I can do just that and not worry about what the mainstream thinks. Doing something different has historically meant obscurity and I have been learning this in painful and joyful ways. Now I just keep quiet dreams that the music will always be there with inspiration to spare and no longer try to define what shape this will take. Walter

I like when you say "thank you" at the end, that's so cool.

Oh and when you say "well...." or "yeah...." that's cool too.

Jlnx: Thank you! I can't remember songs. An hour after they are done I forget them but if I hear them played back it all comes back like looking at a photo album. Walter

Crashing out!!! Great song Walter. I love the way you combined the harp and guitar in that one. I sure wish I was closer to you, I'd ask for an apprenticeship.

Hi Sarge: Thanks. I wish we did live close because I would want to apprenticeshop under you for that old timey harp stuff! That beat is basically the first one I learned. I played it on my first record, which was the first time I played guitar in a real band context. We were in Belguim and I convinced a label to record me based on a demo tape I had from the states that featured a real slick guitarist, drummer, bassist, and me just on harp. For the session I had a bassist and drummer. I conned my way through it as they often asked- why aren't you playing guitar like on the tape? I stated I was into the simple stuff right now. I conned my way through most of my music days about spontobeat- not sharing I make everything up as I go along. I have that lp on disc somewhere and will have to listen to it to see how I fare compared to then. Walter

thanks jbone- yes that is sarge! Here is that song sarge recorded over 30 years ago. This was my first time in a recording studio and first time playing guitar with a band. I recorded the album to cassette tape and then transfered it to the computer. The cassette tape is about 20 years old and was made on a cheap ass cassette recorder and record player. I still have the reel to reel masters from the lp. They are very high quality. I kept telling the engineer to put more reverb on it. He said it was too much. He was right....... Walter

Hey jbone!!!

Walter, that walter hk boogie is GREAT! It has that late 50's early 60's sound. While I was listening to that I felt like I was back sitting in my 54 chevy listening to the am radio.

thanks sarge and jbone! I use to not share my first record much since the net came about. I was embarrased with as the years past and my skills improved. Now I am very proud of it because I followed the blind drive to move overseas, make a record, and basically this is how I have been doing music all along- BS my way onstage and figure out how to play once up there :-) I guess I will always let my spirit run free. I am getting better at enjoying the results and not critizing them. I did that alot early on with wondering why my spontaneous music wasn't as slick as the full blown rehearsed studio albums. Learning to make good recordings and doing a 1 man band with real instruments that sounds like a trio has been my latest endeavor. Walter
