Any help would be MUCH appreciated. Status: -1960 Fender Concert 6G12 -Original (less a few caps) -Run for years on one power tube and 2 speakers. I've switched the tube socket occasionally. The speakers are wired in series. -I do lose some fidelity with 1 power tube.
*I Want to return the amp to stock (all 4-speakers) and run it with both power tubes.
Questions: 1. Which tubes? Power and Pre-Amp. As much as it matters I've never experimented much with this ($). When I ran it with both power tubes I couldn't get much break up at low volume. I'd like tube(s) that help with this issue. I do know that this is difficult to accomplish -small room/volume calls for a smaller amp (I'd rather not use a pedal). I assume the focus here will be pre-amp tubes. I know zip about tube brands -but I've heard the hype. Tube brands? NOS? No, I don't think I need them.
Any help would be VERY much appreciated.
