For those who are inclined to know the whereabouts of our own "Civetcat", according to his many recent Facebook posts, he is living in a recovery center in LasAngles CA. and teaching on the weekly basis. He is reportedly 100% clean and healthy.
I find this news very comforting, for as many of you know, Jason was/is one of my very top inspirations as a harp player and musician overall.
To all who are interested, please feel free to friend him on facebook and/or send him an email to show support in his recovery.

Whatever happened with his test of "Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law"? Last I heard, they were trying to break him of that notion.

I'm more worried when he 'll have to face the court, in 4 or 5 months...
I dearly hope he'll not have to serve (if he has to) in too bad conditions.
I'm not sending anymore messages to him (sent him 5 or 7 the last year) without any answers...Such a pity but I'll be for ever grateful for having been invited to his blow off in Sacramento that was an honour...

Jason has been posting regularly on FB and it is amazing how many people respond to his posts. I'm sure he gets even more private FB messages.
I know many of us have crossed paths and corresponded with Jason several times and consider him a friend. I would not feel down if you do not get a response from him. Even if he was where he needs to be the volume of mail he gets is probably too much to answer.
That said, keep sending him the love anyway. Big numbers on FB lets him know we care.

Not funny I guess--to Jason--but just imagine the old western scene when they put Clint Eastwood in jail and in the back of the cell there is Jason Ricci--playing the harmonica!! ----------

On Harp-L, Rob Paparozzi just announced that Jason will be performing at the Suzuki booth at NAMM, along with Rob, Gregoire Maret and Koei Tananka.

Jason posted the following on FB earlier today.
"Practicing up for a Mannish Boys Session Tommorow, Feels great to go back to work in some capacity. My chops are a little rusty have to put in more heart and soul."
Great to hear!

I spent the day at NAMM and had a nice long chat, one on one with Jason--while he adjusted the gaps on his new Olive. He looked good, if very different, and shared a bunch of personal stuff (and I don't think he knows me--well, now he does). He's gonna hang on the West Coast for a while, and seems to be working already--recording and teaching. He also explained the CivitCat reference, something about coffee beans and a bet that Winslow won . . . OK, here's a Wiki page about the phenomenon--

And I am glad he is in my area, 'cause he says he won't be touring anytime soon . . .

@Gnarly: I don't know if you have any way of getting in touch with Jason, but please let him know this: If he has the freedom and the desire to travel out of state to Hill Country Harmonica (May 18-20, 2012), we'd be delighted to find a way of adding him to our program and letting him make that his official re-introduction to the world of blues festivals. His appearance there would, I know, be greeted not just with great interest, but with a WHOLE lot of hugs, slapped hands, high 5s, and general happiness.
Please let him know, if you've got a way of doing that.

When Jason was in Sacramento for SPAH 2009 I actually found a place in the Bay Area that serves Kopi Luwak. But it was a bit too far from where we were at the time. One of these days . . .
Man, I wish I could spare the time to come to NAMM.

Hi guys-- I didn't get a number for JR, perhaps pharpo could do it for Adam. NAMM is crowded and noisy, it's not as much fun as a festival. Couple of Bay Area harp guys were there with JR--Slim, and also Michael Peloquin.
