Had a go at a 'Help Me'-type backing track here. I tried the Dennis Gruenling hand tremelo effect in one chorus but it turned out to be a tone disaster. Anyone any tips on how you keep a decent tone while doing that?
Awesome tone gave me chills. With tone like that I guess a bit of "good" tone could be considered a disaster, but the effect you're talking about I think occurs around 2:25 more or less sounded fine to me. I certainly would not have any tips to help you get better tone doing that and I would sure be surprised if anybody else has an answer for you.
Sure didn't hear any 'disasters' in there Jon!! Some very fine playing with solid tone IMHO and didn't really hear any 'breakdown' in tone around that 2:25 area. Liked what you did!
Pretty sweet, and great tone! If you are talking about that section around 2:25, I see what you mean, but I wouldn't call it a tone disaster by any stretch. Sounds to me more like you had trouble maintaining steady motion of your hand, and it was a little out of sync with, or interfering with the chug you had going. Perhaps an issue with the way you're holding your mic, or the shape of the mic making it difficult?
Thanks guys. I'm probably exaggerating calling it a disaster, but you know how it is - you really fixate on the faults in your own stuff. @easyreeder - I think you're right about the synch thing. It's hard to get it consistent. Also Gruenling combines the hand effect with a vibrato I think, and I can't get the vibrato yet. @Miles - it's called Minor Problem on YouTube.
