For Christmas I got a PT Gazell C 1847 and am getting accustomed to the valved bends, but I am having a problem with very high pitched squealing on both blow and draw valved bends especially hole 6 up. Is this something that is cured with wax on the rivets?

I know that on unvalved reeds the wax realy help for squeeling.. but I have the same question, what makes squeel the reeds?.. because I dont always need to wax the rivets

Reeds squeal when they twist laterally. Adding wax or tape stabilises the reed. Embossing will help too as it will reduce the airflow around the edge of the reed during its activation.

I have a valved Suzuki Promaster which I was given. I've just recently picked it up and been having a good go at it.
I am having a similar problem. Draw bends 1-6 are fine, blow bends on all 10 holes are fine but I having real problems getting the draw bends on holes 7–10.
I have tried playing with the minimal of force but all I can manage it a squeal.
I'd be very interested if anyone has and ideas about this. Is it technique? Should I do any work on the reeds?

This is an issue of improper technique and not improper harp set-up. PT has done a very thorough job of explaining how to play the bends. It is not like playing overbends and it is not like playing regular bends.
The draw bends on a vavled harp come much more from the front of the mouth than regular draw bends. The blow bends are very much like playing blow bends.
Please do not wreck the harp by messing with it. ---------- Mike VHT Special 6 Mods Quicksilver Custom Harmonicas - When it needs to come from the soul...
