A week or so back I got a chance to compare a Marble Max and HG2 side by side, as I was thinking about buying the latter.
Rather than go into detail I'd generally agree to what this blog said in comparing the amps

They really are surprisingly different in tone

Though unlike David, personally I lent more towards the Max's brighter and ballsier tone, possibly because I'm well used to it. The HG2's tone was great of course, but sounded a little mellow in comparison.

...but, using a Y-cable, the combined sound of both amps is immense, the HG2 giving it bottom end and the Max giving the punch and colour. Unfortunately it looks like the HG2's owner might not be so keen to sell the amp in the end, but I've definitely got to get me one at some stage. Would be great for recording too, having two small amps with very different tone
