Well, the space shuttle was pretty expensive, and IT was defective. I guess anything is possible.

There are octave chromatics that have octaves at the bottom end. How did you come by this chromatic? And do you have a picture?

I've had them play 2 notes at once. I think it's a windsaver not closing. Like clyde said -warm that sucker up first.

Whoops, it was a tremelo... And it was the whole harp too ...
Sorry, I thought I remembered bidding on one on eBay. Could have sworn it was an octave chromatic.

The one easy thing you can try is to tighten the tow screws on the ends of the mouthpiece. If they're loose, air might leak into several holes, but the sound will also be weak.

If you try this, tighten gently in small increments. If you tighten too much the slide won't move. Also, you're biting into wood with that screw and too much pressure can strip the wood.

Another possibility is that the wooden dividers in the comb that separate one hole form another are damaged. That of course would be a warranty claim.

If you're sure you're not simply having trouble isolating a single hole, then I'd treat this as a warranty claim and get Hohner to deal with it.

it's not an instrument. You can throw it away and get a chromatic instead.
