Cristal! Too much fun. Crazy effect. Can't decide if it sounds like clown car horns or stepping on ducks or ducks in clown cars! :) ---------- MBH Webbrain - a GUI guide to Adam's Youtube vids FerretCat Webbrain - Jason Ricci's vids (by hair colour!)
I'm sorry...I just have to ask. I am preparing to purchase some more gear, and I've been reading all the threads on amps, and a lot of it is over my head. I can't afford the trial and error approach, money-wise or time-wise. Would you tell me how you get that sound, or that effect?
I'm using the GarageBand effects on my Mac (Auto Wha, overdrive, delay and reverb) so that might works well at home with headphones, but I'm quite sure that it'll not work on stage, since there'll be feedback issues and the sound might not be the one rendered on that video
For the on stage Boss is making an Auto Wha, and I think the TC Electronic Booster and distortion could be a nice start.

Thanks a lot for posting once again a video after mine....I know that it's not the original key, but as usual since I don't have a band and not yet a keyboard to make my own backing track, I've to play on the one I find on the internet, and by far this one was the best quality I could find....
Will I burn for being a heretic?
If you provide me a nice backing track in the original key, I would be more than happy to do another version with the one you'll send

The key doesn't matter. You might have to change keys to accommodate a vocalist, or if you're playing a song straight-out on harp (like this one), you might want to use a harp in a key that provides the level of "brightness" you're looking for as well as other playability characteristics.
If you walk into a jazz jam with real players they are most likely gonna play it the Herbie key. I suspect that you want move into jazz and that's where you would test yourself in a jazz jam. Philly is a jazz town and when I go to a jazz jam I have to be ready to play at the top of my game. Jamey Aebersold is the best jazz tracks.http://www.legalsounds.com/download-mp3/jamey-aebersold/artist_89361 These guys look pretty cheap for his stuff.
Cristal everyone else will say great job, your the best, incredible. You need at least one critic. When I switched composition/orchestration teachers my new teacher tore my stuff to shreds. ---------- Emile "Diggs" D'Amico a Legend In His Own Mind How you doin'
I'm not a fan of effects on the harmonica, but this is really charming.
As to the original key of the song, don't worry about it. Play it where you find it in regards to back tracks, singers, even your own sensibilities. ---------- The Iceman
@ Diggs I'm not fishing for compliments and I know on a 100 metres distance, I'm just passing the 1st metre, which means that I'm fully aware of my limits, and my videos posts have no other goals to ask you to critique them, and say what can be improved or fixed, but sorry your remark was a bit sneaky, for god sake we're harmonica players and especially on the diatonic the same thing can be done on every single harmonica...Btw I've received your backing track in F, I finish my coffee (6h45 am) and I'll work on it
@Iceman : thanks a lot, I'm glad that after few years you get to like my work..Say hi to harp L LOLOL
Good one Cristal; couldn't imagine that a key change would faze you (or most players for that matter). Sorry I can't find anything to criticise; I was going to have a shot at your shirt, or your haircut, but since it was only a soundfile I can't really.
Only comment I can make is that I like to hear a few chords, octaves and double stops to add interest and texture, but that's just me. ---------- Lucky Lester
