My tin ear and inability to copy anything correctly makes everything I do an original tune. I do not plan it that way, it just happens. One could say I simply string together endless mistakes, or one could say I play original music. I prefer the latter .

Yes.
I try to go by thirds...1/3 originals, 1/3 covers, 1/3 popular covers.
Fullband, my last group could do half a night of originals. My OMB I am about a third. ---------- Mike Quicksilver Custom Harmonicas VHT Special 6 Mods

My band does mostly originals with some trad mixed in. the tunes with harp are originals. As we continue on I am sure I will get the harp into some of the irish trad as well :)

we have about 18 right now and more being written as we go along. our latest cd is all originals. we write a lot of lyrics and arrange the music pretty simply but with a true groove to it. a lot of what we do is nothing like anything else we do. i like that! ---------- http://www.reverbnation.com/jawboneandjolene

I play with Fate The Juggler, all original folk-rock sorta. I only joined in Feburary and this Friday we play at the legendary 100 Club in Oxford Street ( some bloke called Sonny Boy Williamson played there apparently, i will drink to his spirit on the night).

I've often thought that a useful gig formula was to try to really impress the crowd with covers for a set, and then load the next set with originals that will blow away the "cover set". It depends on what kind of crowd you have, and whether your originals have enough of a familiar sound to keep from alienating the crowd. I've written tunes that were designed to be pop blues, and people will often say, "I know who did that, but I can't remember.", or sumpin' like that. Ya' just gotta entertain.. that's it.

I am original in a way much different than anyone. I spontaneously create my words and music everytime I play/record and have been doing this for near 50 years. I guess I am too original for most :-) Walter ---------- walter tore's spontobeat - a real one man band and over 1 million spontaneously created songs and growing. Only a handful. But we do covers that have no harp and I have to come up with something. Does that count?

I improvise much more naturally(harp and vocals)than reciting someone else's music comes to me. Does that count? I've also been in a few all-original bands, the last being experimental/jam band am540. I've posted some stuff on here before. ---------- Todd L. Greene

I don't know how "original" they are, but I wrote all the songs on my myspace page. I'm always working on writing something. ----------

The only harp songs I can do front to back as a full cover are juke and the alternate version in the box set. Le riff interpretation aside.

I write and play original stuff, also like to sit in with other bands.
I'm starting my own band and so far have a drummer and a bass player, and now somebody with some recording, producing, and marketing skills enrolled in the material, willing to do it for love and see what happens...
I'm very excited! ---------- Shane,

@geordiebluesman. Thanks for your kind words. All those tunes were from two different recording sessions around 1997, 1998. I was lucky enough to have some great players with me, guys that I've done lots of gigs with. I'm more than ready to go back in the studio again as I'd like to think that I've improved a little since then...
