The police, im in the netherlands, almost gave me a ticket tonight for wild camping! It is 1:20 in the freakin' middle of the night and they think it's strange I'm playing the blues on a deserted parking lot.
It took them three minutes of flash lighting my car before they decided to knock on my door.

Police:What are you doing here in the middle of the night at Almere parking lot this and that (it is obvious thry'r taping the conversation)
I:Playing the blues!
P:That's strange, aren't you working!
I: Well, that's a matter of perspective it takes a whole lot of work playing the blues(harp)!?!
P: that's not what I asked!
I: what did you ask?
P: R U camping here!
I: That's not what you asked.
P: so you did understand what I asked!
I: we'll, I heard the question, obviously I didn't understand it?
P: so r u working here?
I.:if you ask me wether I'm on the job, No.
P: So your camping here!
I: no, I playing the blues.
P:Strange,

You're a strange Man!

Very strange!

Is this your car?
I: I've worked for it, so yes it's mine.
P: do you own it,
I: yes, I do!
P: Strange!
Very strange!
I:What else is strange I asked!

P: Well, have a good Night!
I: Thanks, you too, Stranger!

I don't mean to make light of your police run-in, but the dialogue back and forth had me howling with laughter as I imagined it in something of a Monty Python scene, with the trickery of questioning and response going on.

Funny that they simply couldn't (or wouldn't) grasp the concept of "I'm playing some harp in my car - there's no harm or crime here!" when it's an easily understood option compared to the other places that might not work for practicing.

The point is although we know no harm was being done, police have a tough job, all the nutcases in the world today they just checked him out.

If I recall Adam was questioned out at the Crossroads by the constabulary whilst recording a lesson? I think it was at a sensible hour though.

We are a strange lot!

Hell...it's a rainy night in Michigan. My wife goes to bed at 7:00 p.m because of her shift at work. So I went and played the blues in my car, in the garage. I mixed my cocktails on the work bench. I have a backing track CD in the car. Life was good. No police. No police is good...unless you NEED police. No very adventurous, but no handcuffs, either.

The car is one of my favorite places to play. The other is when I am wandering around the neighborhood walking my dogs. Funny how they howl when I play in the house but never when I am walking them.

LOVE IT! Great story!

When it is nice out, I'll play on the patio or driveway while the kids are running around. Otherwise, I have a modest "man cave" that we intentionally built into the floor plan to be the lowest level of the house with a ton of instillation. I can play acoustically down there all night without issue.

I often just jam around the house while doing other things - cooking dinner, watching tv...it is as normal as the kids playing with their toys.

My 1.5 yr old daughter loves to get her harmonica out with me. My son runs around the house singing all the time anyways, so we just jam away.
