I'm considering getting a keyboard for accompaniment. Harp in one hand, keyboard with the other hand to run some percussion loops and bass line. I'm new at keyboard but can get by monophonic bass. Anybody have suggestions for keyboard or synth. I'm thinking a few hundred $. I have a solid state amp. I think many keyboards probably have looping capabilities. It seems like I could get some interesting effects by also running the harp mic through a synth vocoder.

I use beatboxing and Line 6 M13 to do this. My bass is humming or playing into a Boss OC-2. I then use a Tech 21 Bass Driver to mix to taste, but I wouldn't have to.

A lot of loopers have the percussion tracks built right in. The M13 has a lot of synth sounds that are useable for harp as well.

OK, so that's all pedals and both hands for harp for about 600usd, correct?

Depends on if you like your looper or not. If you just need effects, you could just get an octave pedal - the Boss OC-2 works well as does the Danelectro Chillin Dog...do not go EHX POG-types for this - and then call it a day.

Otherwise, you could just get the M9. The octaver works great for humming basslines, but like everything else not EHX, it won't track chords. I would look used for around $250.

That pedal will get you any effect you'd ever want. It would also work as a GREAT looper. However, it is hard to use effects and loop at the same time. That is where the M13 would be a better fit.

You wouldn't need the Tech 21...at least at first. Can you share your full rig and what kind of stuff you want to do?

My rig is intentionally set-up to be a 3-4 piece band. I don't mind looping several bars or chord changes. I want the bass to sound like bass. I try to play the harp like a guitar for rhythm stuff and use low octave tunings. I then beatbox, which I let get a little distorted or warm because I suck at it. I have played around with a lot of effects, but have settled on using mostly delays and reverbs and only a couple synths.

That is only because I want to keep it bluesy. I can make jam band sounds no problem, lol.

I'm doing a complete rethink of this based on your suggestions. I was not familiar with those pedals. I'm no beatboxer and was thinking a synthesizer for samples or presets for some modern rhythms. I would like to get variety between simple harp and beat up to full band sound but staying bluesy.
