having been to london many times I know there are great subways from hyde park to green park and onto stjames near the palace-my question is how the bobbys react to playing in these subways where no amp is needed-Im going next may and might give a very brief go of it-do they require a permit and/or license for this?

I meant to say the pedestrian subways connecting the 3 parks mentioned-would not even consider playing in the tube stations-too noisy anyway and you would need an amp-if I did play in these subways anyway I would think I would just be asked to move on,which they would not have to ask twice

whether the subways between the parks are still part of the royal parks I do not know but...

Unless the Secretary of State’s written permission has first been obtained, no person using a Park shall

(9) play or cause to be played a musical instrument;

Hi groyster, sorry, crossed wires. I didn't think you were intending to play in the Underground Stations. I know the area you are referring to well.

I was just pointing out that in London you should be able to play anywhere you like, except the Underground Stations, within "The City/Square Mile" and in Coven Garden, without permission or a permit.

Like Lumpy, I'm not sure if those subways count as part of the Royal Parks and as you say, the worst that is likely to happen is that you'll be asked to stop.

It's sadddens me that this conversation has to even take place. What kind of soulless creature do you have to be to shut down somebody busking. One of the many things that make life just a tad more pleasant. If I'm walking a beat, I'm walking right on by.

I have played in public a few times but I havn't worked up the nerve to put a hat out. There is a subway station in Shenzhen with a caverous 3 story escalator well with about a 5 second natural reverb. It was new and not really well traveled yet. Most people walked by like I wasn't there but some gave me a thumbs up. Then a security guard came by. He listened while I finished my piece and then motioned for me to play more! I don't speak Chineese but my harp must have translated well.
