I would like other harp players input on this mic. I am looking for a good back up mic. Will this work and how does it sound. Thank you for taking time to read this.

I have a BOB and a vintage Astatic JT30 with a new ceramic element. As far as bang for the buck, you can't really beat the BOB. I like it because it's smaller than the bullet mics, easier to hold and cup, and I think it sounds better than the Astatic, although I only play through a practice amp. It's also a good conversation piece as people perceive it as glass at first glance. Although I can't claim to be the voice of experience, I have jammed with other harp players with mulitiple mics, and they invariably say the BOB sounds good to their ears.

It sounds okay, a little muddy and dark. But I always thought it looked like the player was sucking on a baby bottle...

I have one and like it. I bought it mostly due to it being a decent price and I think it's sounds ok and for my level of playing it suits me fine.
I posted a video on the cheap amp thread with Steve Harvell playing one through a pignose 7-100 check that thread for a sample of how it can sound.

There great mics with a nice gritty tone, well worth the money.

I don't think you can beat it for the price ---------- Wisdom does not always come with old age. Sometimes old age arrives alone.

I bought a Bottle O' Blues mic a couple of months ago and I like it. It's light, easy to hold and won't break if you drop it. I'm fairly new to amplified playing and I don't have a JT-30 to compare it to but it has a crunchy tone which is what I want. The volume control seems to control feedback pretty good. It may not be the first choice for experienced amplified players but its a good mic and worth the money.

Not a HUGE Distorted tone, like a goldang synthesizer out of control.. (which I do not play with anyway,...and HATE to hear others do it.. No matter WHO they are)... but a nice CONTROLLABLE warmth with just a touch of grit.. far more what the audience expects a harp to sound like,,, yet with a classic Bluesy growl....Durable as all get out, does not slip from your hands.. or weigh a ton.. and cheap enough.. to buy for sure... Plus they ARE individually HANDMADE in AMERICA by the owner of the company...!!!

I like my JT-30 better, but the BOB and Honeytone make a good practice setup, and are usually found in my truck. I gave one to my teacher, he loves it.
