Konstantin Reinfeld. At 2:16 he cuts loose, and at 2:55 he does some wonderful arpeggios, but this is all pretty--and impressive, non-showy--stuff.
Here's where you begin to see the result of having a guy like Howard out there for the past twenty-five years, along with continual improvements in the instrument. This sort of playing is slowly becoming...what you do on a diatonic harmonica. It's a concert instrument now, if you're willing to put in the time. It happens to be playing Jobim here, but the techniques, those fast arpeggios around 2:15, are Paganini. The present day world of the diatonic harmonica just isn't the same as the world of 30 years ago. This young man didn't exist back then. Howard played a huge, irreplaceable role in making all this happen.
The "A" in SPAH is being realized.
He's a Hohner endorser: http://www.hohner.de/index.php5?2522
Probably a member of this forum, too.....
[edited to add: Ah, doh. Yes, Konstantin, you became a member two weeks ago. I'm an old-timer and just a wee bit slow on the uptake. I'm glad to have you aboard!
Here's your introduction thread, for those who missed it: http://www.modernbluesharmonica.com/board/board_topic/5560960/2317823.htm
Since I missed failed to connect you with that newbie of two weeks ago, you may trust that my response to your video above was genuine. I know quality when I see it--especially if it later turns out to have been certified by everybody else long before I came along! :)
