George Harmonica Smith "covering"--which is to say, exploding--"Juke." Happy Thanksgiving. If this doesn't renew your passion for our humble instrument, you are in deep deep trouble:

...haven't seen that kind of enthusiasm since my youth in a Pentecostal church!

Yeah, this reminds me (kinda) of Corky Siegel and the Siegel/Schwall band. I saw them play a dozen times in the late sixties and early seventies, usually smaller venues, and they ALWAYS brought the house down. Corky (on harp, piano and vocals) was very kinetic and knew how to work the crowd. I bought their albums, and when I listened I realized that the stuff Corky was playing wasn't that technically challenging, but put together with the total presentation they were a knockout act. They opened for Van Morrison once at the Cinderalla Theater in Detroit and again brought the house down. When Van Morrison came out with a sort of laid-back style, most everyone walked out. The next night Siegel/Schwall were the headliners and Van was back on the road.

The guys of that generation played every note like it might be their last. That's a really good philosophy to embrace.

You know why he is pissed? Did you see that crowd? If the video would have started a few minutes earlier you would have seen the crowd booing him when he came on. They were expecting the Grateful Dead and thought he would suck. So at the end he was basically saying "How do ya like me now mofo's?" Yea!!!!

To me it looks like he's gearing up for the big finale that is presumably cut off of the end of this video (the drums are still "going").

Anyone that doesn't understand that look hasn't slayed a crowd before! Sometimes being musician is like playing sports. When he was playing the octave part he was gettin it and he knew it!
Before people did STUPID endzone dances they had that look!
Thats the victory stare!

The Icky shuffle looks just stupid now as it did then!
I've been a Steelers fan for a long time. So any Bengal doing a endzone dance is bad for me!
