I was at the columbus harp gathering yesterday and met Dave Harris of the tube amp factory. He had a couple of his handmade amps there and let me take home his HA 10 amp. He started making tube amps in 1957 and designed it for harp but I am not able to crank it up enough due to I play quietly in my studio so I used it on my guitar. It is a 10 watt, point to point, wired and gave me that old jimmy reed/eddie taylor tones. I used a princeton reverb reissue amp for the harp with an akg d58 mic stuffed into a beer can cooler on a harp rack. The d58 is about the size of your forefinger joint and is real light. It is designed as a talk back mic on studio consoles. I like the sound it makes on the rack through the princeton reverb. I got inspired to do some amped harp after being surrounded by a ton of amps yesterday. Here are some from this morning. Walter
