A player can learn a lot from Carey Bell. He was fabulous in execution. His tone was fantastic. I remember seeing him at one of Hummels first blowouts. He came out after a bunch of great players. The band was playing a simple box shuffle. He picked a mic and played a single chord with that vibrato of his. Man, he blew away all of the previous players within the first 12 bars of his first tune. In my opinion, on harp, he had few peers.

Carey was very well respected in Chicago. He was a harp players's player. When he had a gig, harp players were in the house.
