Nice I love a good acoustic recording,Thats all Ive played last 15 years is a acoustic guitar,Im getting the hankering for a Budget strat though,Like your fills between chord changes,It gives it a cool lead feel with out going over board, and the harp sounded great. ---------- Hobostubs

hi Hobostubs: thanks. I tool love a nice acoustic recording. My recording gear is good enough to capture the sound pretty good. I taught myself guitar and never had a pick starting out. When I figured out that most people played with picks I was already too far into using my bare fingers. I was working the low bass string with my thumb and the others with my index and middle finger and then moved in with Louisiana Red. He would use bare fingers and also a thumb pick. I try that occasionally with the electric and acoutstic guitars but find the bare fingers best. Living with Red and playing with a lot of the old school guys like Lightning Hopkins and sonny terry/brownie mcghee made a deep impression on me with making one guitar sound like 2. See you. I ive been trying to use my finger using finger picks lately but only practicing for now,Ive used a pick all these years I wish I had used my fingers more,It seems a good acoustical player being blues or classical really use and sound good with fingers,But Its going to be awhile befor Im real comfortable with em.But that cool delta slide sounds best with fingers at least to me,maybe one day;-) ---------- Hobostubs

I don't care for the picks. they limit how you can move your fingers. I like to work the bass strings with both my thumb and forefinger in an up and down motion over the strings. With the picks they get caught up on the strings plus I don't feel the strings. I like to be in direct contact with them. For me the musical experience is about becoming the song more than being fancy. I think being as simple as possible with set up allows for the easiest transition to this point. Quit thinking and let it flow and you get your own sound-Whatever works works! yea that thumb picking the bass strings and the fingers working the higher strings is a cool sound especially with the blues,Im trying to get it but its different,I think it works real good with a open tuning like Open D sounds real blusy using fingers, but ill have to work on it more,I recorded baptised with the blues with my fingers but sence then I play it with a pick cause all my others are using a pick,But when I get better at it I will use it more cause I do like fingers on open tunings with a slide ---------- Hobostubs

I have to to buy and download "death bells" somehow. I'm having trouble (on my end) buying your music. Death Bells really turned out nice, I love it. Thanks Walter, long live Sponto.

Chickenthief: Thanks for the support! Sorry you are having trouble downloading it. I never tried to buy one of my songs on soundclick. You can email me if you like and we can figure something out. Thanks Walter.
I'll get it squared soon as I can get to a decent wifi connection. Your acoustic playing is beautiful. Can't wait to hear how your latest recording setup comes across on my hi fi.

you are welcome chickenthief. To be honest I have yet to get a dime from soundclick. It is a free site and I think I am going to stop the mp3 download part and if people want to buy anything they can get it direct from me. I can email out mp3's or actual cd wave files in the mail. Got it. One song downloaded.
Yeah, I would bet that those wave files sound good coming through nice speakers now that you are experimenting with all of that fresh equipment. I have to go back through some of the other stuff you did and see what I missed.

I switched over to amplified harp and electric guitar this morning. I got to take a cool little point to point tube amp home from the columbus harp get together. If you prefer wave files let me know. On my monitors there is a quite a difference mainly in the depth of the sound. Its funy-technology is advancing like crazy yet most people are buying mp3 files online instead of wave files. Right,... and I should know better. I hardly ever buy mp3s and never got used to using them. I'll try some of your waves to get the better fidelity.
I'm old enough to where I still buy vinyl LPs and have some fairly decent 25 year old stereo components. I tried the I pod/mp3 stuff with the ear buds and earphones for awhile. It's a kind of / sort of ok, if you don't have anything better, but most guys who get themselves some hi fi will eventually kick that Ipod into the corner. There's a lot of music that never comes over on stuff like that.

you got it. Once you hear good sound it is hard to go backwards. I see the same thing with video cameras. The picture quality gets better all the time but the audio is as bad as it was 10 years ago. I guess it goes to show visuals and convience will outsell good sound. Walter ---------- walter tore's spontobeat - a real one man band and over 1 million spontaneously created songs and growing.
