Can anyone name a couple of blues albums (electric or acoustic) where Kim Wilson plays as a sideman apart from the Memphis Barbecue sessions with Big Jack Johnson? I would like to listen to him in that role, playing fills, making pauses etc...

Kim's playing on Jimmy Rogers live "Ludella" CD recorded at Antone's is insanely good. I like lots of different harp styles, but for Chicago stuff, this is about as good as it gets. HIGHLY recommended.

My personal favorite is Barrelhouse Chuck's "Got My Eyes On You". Chuck picks some fabulous songs. Kim Wilson' playing on "Floyd's Blues" and "Cleo's Mood" is fantastic. My favorite track on the CD is, "The Bright Sounds of Big Moose". It's a tribute to Big Moose Walker who was a totally bad ass keyboard player. ---------- The Blues Photo Gallery

I second Joe_L's opinion. The Barrelhouse Chuck CD is "hand down!" the best darned Chi-town Blues album played by contemporary musicians, ever (IMHO). My absolute favorite in terms of KW as sideman. ---------- Ricky B www.bushdogblues.blogspot.com RIVER BOTTOM BLUES--a crime novel for blues fans due out 2012

And lets not forget his contribution to Ronnie Earl CD's. He plays harp on the CD "Now My Soul" on the "Walter Through Kim" cut, and vocal on the CD "Living In The Light" on the "Child Of A Survivor" cut. For those who don't know, ex Roomfull of Blues guitarist Ronnie Earl is amazing.

One more good album with Kim Wilson as a sideman is Steve Freund's "C for Chicago". Kim plays on a number of tracks.
Steve is a bad ass guitar player who played with Big Walter, Luther Allison, Sunnyland Slim and won a Grammy with Koko Taylor. His music is straight Chicago Blues. It's a fantastic CD.

Kim also appears on a older record that is called Ron Levys Wild Kingdom on Black Top.It also features Ronnie Earl who as Pluto says is a very soulful player who is amazing. His early material after leaving Roomful features Sugar Ray Norcia on one or two albums and Daryl Nulisch on a couple after that, and Jerry Portnoy after that.Sorry to go off topic here,I know that this thread is about Kim,but I figured I mention these for folks who didn,t know about these. They,re all great listens for harp players, and blues hounds.Another album in which Kim is a sideman is Carlos Santanas,Havana Moon.It features Kim and some of the T-Birds on a few tracks.
