Love the band! Lovely natural guitar tones, nice simple drumming, this is the sort of band I'd love to play with. Harp guy can play, would've preferred it if he'd left a bitta space though!
I also like the sound of the band but they would sound alot better if you could hear them,as D.D. says the harper needs to leave more space to give the song more feeling.(is the harp key matching up with the key that the bands playing,I,m having trouble hearing it?)I feel thats your burying the whole feel of the song with loud fast runs with overblows that just don,t match up with what the other players are putting down. (an old school feel,L Walter ish) I,ve heard you play before and know that you have nice chops but need to chill a little bit on this style of blues. It might sound better as a solo in a more rockin tune, Take Your Time Son,Take Your Time.BTW were we suppose to critic this one?
@ Oxharp I am not sure the other russian guy took this video. I will check. Your bassman is one of the best amppplifiers I played recently and I have HG50 1210 and Marble Bluesonic which used to belong to Steve Baker. It would be a good idea if you write in a separate thread you have done with it, mic details etc.
@NiteCrawler Constructive criticism is always welcome. In my defence, I do play slow sometimes but this was a fast tune and on that day I just felt like playing fast. Plus never been fun of Little Walter, don't care what anyone says.
I agree with Dirty Deck great harp player but working with space would of made it easier to digest. It would be good to see the OXHarp & Tommey Allen video.
I have no idea as to what level of playing you two have reached.
I was the host of the whole jam session and believe you me it was no easy party.
let me fill you in about these jam sessions at (festivals) - almost all the players are advanced/expert, the band are session musicians.
So, there we go, I introduced 20 different players who had travelled to Bristol UK and were staying overnight (x20) in a hotel, where, I might add there where other jam sessions late into the night!!
The point is every player is different and you are pointing the finger at yourself as a beginner to say that Leonid's playing lacked space.
As he said he chose to play that style.
That night we had every style, including me playing drums after 35 years!!
In the end the harmonica won....
When you progress to your own style, after many years, you choose to play in the moment and that's what he did.
