Buddy Guy sounded the best because he was set up to sound best by the musicians. He is Buddy Guy after all and all those musicians adore him. Clearly they are all showing respect to him. I think Trey showed a lot of restraint and plays a lot of other ABB material very well, stuff Buddy wouldn't cover. Southbound is a pretty uninspired choice, a once very fresh song in the hands of chuck leavell that has grown tired with its campy chorus. Given the right material, Trey would have outplayed BG and WH even while wearing snow mittens. Something like like Elizabeth Reed or Dreams. Derek would have woken up!
Trey and Derek best days are ahead of them, they don't need to "one up" anyone here. ABB is good, but w/o Derek, I lose interest.
Trey did some work with Son Seals years back, like funky bitch. Son was a under appreciated talent, Trey helped him get that LP on Telarc.

At least on my computer, I couldn't hear notes coming from Buddy - more like a burst of noise for the most part. Probably because of bad recording.. ---------- The Iceman

You're saying; they made a conscious effort to upstage you? And that, on another such occasion, they may choose to show you mercy?
