I deleted my YouTube channel and all those crappy videos including my original entry into BYOB3.
I was practicing today to some jam tracks I purchased from Adam and although I have never played swing, I did today. Sort of a free style jam to a Chicago swing track in F (Bb harp).
It's basically one long solo. It is my six month anniversary for playing tomorrow so I thought I would record it and post it in the BYOB. It was a one take deal...bam! I had fun.
I started a new youtube channel just for this vid then I will delete it. It's not really my thing.

Here's the vid.

Wow!!! Talk about guts...lol. Even when I don't like something I don't insult the person. Not saying anything, that takes guts! I haven't been around because I've been a little busy, but if I would get feedback like this then maybe it was good that I didn't post there....lol.
Guts....wow....was it that bad?
I've been practicing but I guess it just ain't workin'.

No offence meant, you said you took down all those crappy vids you had on youtube, i/we are both learning and in our quest we try different things, initially i uploaded everything, now i usually remove them a day or so later, guts also meaning you challenge yourself with some difficult numbers when i reckon you should do something easier on youself and see what happens, if you were buskin i'de throw in a buck btw.

Easy is easy Stan...lol. Actually I thought that was easy!

This is how it works for me.
I'll use this video as an example. I came across the track while going through various tracks and keys seeing if anything caught my ear or that I might like to practice to. I saw a Chicago swing in F. I listened and then grabbed my Bb harp and hit a couple of riffs to see how it felt. I liked it so I turned on the recorder on my laptop and recorded the whole track with me playing along...just once...and tried to post that. I didn't practice it first or do a dry run. I just played to the track as if i was asked to come on stage and jam. Spontaneous.
Being computer illiterate I couldn't figure how to post the sound file, so I got out the camera and made what you see posted here. No practice runs no rehearsals and no trying to do it better.
Why do I do it that way? Sure I could play it 20 more times and hope to improve it or wait a few more days of practicing and then attempt it again or I could just keep plugging away at it or maybe play an easier song.

But I don't because then "after" I get it better then that is no longer me at that time. That then becomes the new me after I "fix" it. If someone asks, "hey let me see you play that thing, then i have to go right there and then with no practice. What I play spontaneously "on the spot" is me. After I try and perfect it a bit then that is a new me. My video shows me at that time on the spot.
Actually I didn't find that tune hard...why is is difficult? Not my usual stuff or a song I normally look to play but I liked it. I actually like the way it came out. Regardless of what others may think.

But at the time of recording that was me. If someone says, hey let me hear you play, then I have to blow right there and then. Not start and stop then say "give me a few more days." That video is me, "now."
I appreciate your comments though Stan....and thanks for the dollar!! Lol. Now I need to shoot for $2.

@JodanChudan

Thank you. I appreciate that especially from you. I enjoy your playing and vids.

You were the first to comment on my very first video on my very first ever post here.

Well, I need to clear something up here. 6 months ago
I bought a new special 20 in C and I found this forum. I also found out how to learn. "BUT" I already knew how to bend all bendable notes (other than hole 10) and I could play octaves, do vibrato, chug, tounge block (to a point), flutter etc. I know how to do this stuff because 20 years ago I attempted to learn how to play for a short time. I posted about this in my first, introduction post, here. It didn't work out. I learned techniques, as mentioned, but nothing else. I didn't play any songs.
I had no idea there were 3 bends on hole three for example or anything about notes or bars. I used to just bed and then bend deeper. I could follow a 12 bar blues but didn't know why or how...I just did it. I never found it difficult to learn things like octaves or certain sounds and tricks though. I could usually mimic these things after hearing it. Not that I can do them perfectly or exactly on pitch all the time or very musically, but I could do them . But when I watch a video on tips on how to do little sound techniques, it seems I can already do it.

But when I started again six months ago I found that although I could still do most of the techniques, I couldn't play to anything and my single notes weren't clear. I also discovered that all I knew were tricks and techniques and nothing about harp playing. 20 years ago I never practiced either. I only played while in the car and even then only when I was parked and waiting for my wife to come out of work. I played to cassette tapes, mostly "Harp Attack".

But thanks for listening and commenting. The journey continues....and it's the fun that counts. I had fun doing this one. And even if no one were to like it. I still have fun even when I ,listen to it. lol
