I have acquired a Grunding GDM 310 mic to try it for amplified playing. It had a 3 pin din connector, so I went to a guy to replace it with a 3 pin male XLR, but the Din cable had 4 wires. He used three, chassis ground for pin 1, positive polarity terminal for pin 2, and a return terminal for pin 3, he left out the forth wire. I tried the mic and it worked ok. My question is, did he make a mistake and how will it affect the microphone? I am sorry if this sounds confusing, but I'm clueless when it comes to tech stuff.

I can only guess but the most likely reason for the 4th wire would have been to allow you to re-configure the mic for high impedance. The way you describe the current wiring would be correct for low impedance if he used the low impedance signal wire. If it sounds right and signal strength is what you would expect then it is OK. ---------- /Greg

Iv got the 313 they are good little mics. Mine only has 3 cables and is Lo z but with a impedance transformer it is fine. ---------- "Everyone has to start somewhere."
