I'm working with a local radio station, the Toys for Tots group, and a venue to host the event.
I found three regional blues bands to participate, so we are having the 2nd Annual Toys for Tots Blues Christmas in northeast TN December 3rd.
Last year each band was given 75 minutes per set. The venue we used had a lot of traffic flow (seats 200), but stayed packed the whole time. All the large boxes provided were filled so we backed pick-up trucks up to the door to toss toys in. Without a toy the cost was $5. We got several hundred in cash.
It is great to see the blues community a part of something so awesome. Maybe you can consider this in your area?
If anyone has cheap or used harps to donate drop me a line and I will be happy to make sure the kids get them.

Our local(W.Pa.) blues society is having a Toys for Tots Dec.16. Our president is a silver tongued negotiator. She wrangled the Nighthawks as headliner.A local blues band will open. With a big name act,I'm hoping for a boatload of toys being donated. Our blues society does a lot of charity events.Last Sat. we did "The Blues Go Pink" for breast cancer awareness month. There were 8-9 bands, all fronted by women, either singing or playing an instrument.or both.We worked in conjunction with a health group that provides breast cancer screenings to low income women.
