Ed lives in the Gainesville, FL area. Saw him perform at the Florida Blues Harmonica Championship event on Sun. He used a self-custom tweaked chrom w/1/2 valves for a very unique diatonic sound with full chromatic capabilities.
Excellent.

I was wondering how he was getting those notes! I took the stage two players after Ed- up to that point I was comfortable-Ed was one of the best players there.

I don't believe we did speak-if I knew you were there,I would have introduced myself. Steve Arvey and I were talking and walking around, pumping up Steve Guyger and Dennis Gruenling's "Tribute to Little Walter" tour-hopefully I will meet you then!!

If you were the one dressed very colorfully, you offered me a flyer and I said we already knew about the show....I was sitting down in one of those plastic white chairs at the back of the crowd in front of the stage with the lovely Vicki next to me. Bald guy (handsome) wearing black jeans and sharp black shirt.
I used to play with Doug Deming in Detroit.... ---------- The Iceman

The colorfullly dressed guy was Steve Arvey-I saw ED won for best technical ability-great playing. I see and talk to Doug all the time-he's living in Bradenton now- Oh,by the way-the power went completely out during my last song-I felt I was at a disadvanatge, but the situation was out of my control.

While the heart may be in the right place, this event is a real mixed bag with the accent on LOUDINYOURFACE back up band that seems to be unable to connect with sit ins who want the song to end at a specific place in a specific way, or insist on starting to play when the harmonica player is doing a solo type interlude or introduction. When I sat with my fingers pushed firmly into my ears, these guys can play very well, but the volume they like kills it for me. The promoters should hire a band like the Jeweltones to back up the contestants. Would make for a much better experience. ---------- The Iceman

I could not agree more-I will not be returning as a player next year, unless they have a band like the Jewletones as the backup band-maybe not even then. My ears are still bleeding-
