I've said this before. If you have a chance to catch Curtis live, do so. His recorded material doesn't accurately represent just how talented the guy is. I'm fortunate enough to live in the land of Curtis, and have the opportunity to see him in various ensembles. He plays a duo with Allan Hager, pure blues. He plays in a band called the "Knuckleheads" which is a group of Portland's finest, including Lloyd Jones on guitar, and finally his own band. I saw Curtis last night, and he did a 15 minute version of his song "Too Loose" which he stopped doing for years. That 15 minute version featured a "rip the top of your head off" 7 minute smoking harp solo. Curtis is one of the worlds top blues harp players(he smokes on the chromatic as well), and his showmanship and singing is top drawer as well. And every time I see him he gets better. Check him out. I personally guarantee you won't be disappointed.
