Sad news, just in. Brilliant innovator. I'm a Mac guy. Started on one and never ended up using anything else. He definitely squeezed out all the juice before he went. Few of us live lives like that.
iTunes. iMovie. Whew!

Yes sad news indeed. Though he died way too young it does give one pause to think how long/short a time computers have been around. I started programming on IBM punch cards in the 70's. Soon there will not be a generation that has not grown up with computers. Odd sort of parallels to the blues world. Not very many blues pioneers around as well.

while i was going to michigan state university, my friend went to talk to his counselor one time and told him one of his goals was to have a personal computer. this was in 1979. the counselor thought he was daft.
i'm sure my friend is in mourning because he's been buying macs from waaaay back. when a new gadget came out, he got it. he's the one that talked me into getting a mac.

I'm an Apple & PC guy. They both have pluses & minuses, tbh. In the IT field you use what's best for the job at hand & sometimes you switch between the two.
Anywho, this brought a smile to my face, hopefully yours too:

Jobs was an extremely rare man. I spent a career in the computer business and although I never worked for him directly I was very aware of Apple from Day 1, and know many people who worked with him. There are many truly brilliant, creative geniuses in Silicon Valley and around the world. I know a few of them. They are successful. But Jobs had something much more unique. To me, he was the Leonardo DaVinci of our century. ---------- /Greg
