Hello. I am at the beginner level and am having issues with long sequences of draw notes where air is clearly leaking into my nose rather than going through the harp(especially 2 draw). I can play the notes if I hold my nose closed, but this is not only impractical it kind of ruins your public image. Any practice tips? Thanks in advance for the help.

You could always play with your nose...
What do you do when you swim?

Try blowing up a balloon. You can't do it unless you close off your nose.
Now try it without a balloon. Just close your lips and pretend you're trying to blow up a balloon. Your cheeks will puff out and air won't go anywhere.
Now reverse the breath direction; your cheeks will suck in and again no air will leak in.
What's actually happening is that your soft palate - the soft waggy bit at the back of the roof of your mouth is wagging up and blocking off your nasal passages. Some people can actually feel it touching the back wall of your air passage and others can't.

I had that problem for a long time. You have to get in touch with the right muscles. The trick that did it for me? Talk like you do when you're imitating someone who has a cold - that shuts off the air passage to the nose too. At first you really have to focus on it to be aware that you're doing it wrong, correcting it, doing it right - but after time it becomes natural. ---------- /Greg
