Hello all,
I just finished a document I made for my own benefit and thought I could share it with you folks. I know it is not perfect but if it can help somebody I’ll be glad.

I’m very visual and made myself a document that shows both the note and the tabs. The document show a few basic scales (with bent notes but no Overblows…I’m not quite there yet) and if you click under the selected scale, it show a few patterns to play along within the chosen scale. I like to play with those scales using a metronome and increase the speed as I get comfortable with the exercise. I also inserted on one tab my own transcription of a Norton Buffalo scales exercise as explained in his “bag of tricks” DVD (I hope this is not considered as right infringement)

Even if you can see the document from your web browser, it is better to download it and open it in Microsoft Excel or Open office / Lib Office. For some reasons, a lot of visual is missing or does not show properly in web browser.
Here is the link:

I have to admit, when I started playing harp, I thought the benefit of playing scales was highly overrated but I realized it helped me a lot in many ways.
1- It gave me more control and accuracy with bending
2- It made me a lot more comfortable with area or the harp I did not explored before (like higher octave)
3- It gave me more speed
4- It increased my ability to figure out songs by ear.

So I hope some of you will find it useful,
Ps. Pleas excuse me if my English is not perfect; I’m a French speaking person doing the best I can in English.

Thanks for this. You have done a lot of work! I have always played by ear, so this is very useful to look at the music theory side. I like the way you have shown this in note form, harp tab form and Do, re, me form.

I have looked at the 1st part only at the moment but I intend to use it all. Just for your information I noticed on page 5 you have indicated D as 1 blow instead of 1 draw.
