RJ was on the west coast two weeks ago and was the "host band" for our weekly jam. Each of these vids has a few tunes on it. In the last of these 3 he was doing a tune in D on the chromatic and invited me up to play with him - I chose a G harp to ensure we were different.
Bob Welsh on Guitar, used to play with Hummel, now with Elvin Bishop. Two different drummers - Jimmy "MX" and the inimitable June Core (normally with Musselwhite). Kedar Roy on bass.
NIce duett - you do indeed sound very tasty Greg - nothing new. Which Sonny Jr. amp is that? -You're getting some great tone (which is about you as much or more than the amp)
Still haven't made it down to the jam. One day. Of course you don't exactly need another harp player down there. ----------
Mr Bonedog - I've been to the Redwood City Blues Jam quite a bit. Sometimes, there are a lot of harp players; other times there are very few. Sometimes, it's just Greg and me.
When a harp player leads the host band, harp players tend to come out. When RJ Mischo, Mark Hummel or John Nemeth hosts, there tends to be more harp players in the audience. On a night when a guitar player is leading the band, less harp players show up.
@bonedog - that was my Avenger, with the mic I made for RJ which is a blowsmeaway wood mic with a good CR in it.
Do come to the jam - we'll get you up! Joe is right - it is variable. But I get to play nearly every week, so does Joe. I am perfectly happy to give up my spot for an out of towner if that's what it takes.
Thanks Greg (and Joe) I'm just starting to get out a little again. Sat in with Norm DeCArlo (great drummer) and Lean Mean Blues Band a week or so back - but it's a really easy commute (South SF from SF where I am).
I will get motivated and out the door - down your way one of these days though. Greg - you're the blues commuter extrodinaire. If you ever need a pitstop as you come down 19th from the bridge toward the peninsulla , give me a shout. I'm right along the way. ----------
