I would like some feed back on the best way to practice. And i'm not talking practice technique that's a given. I mean should i learn songs, try to play with backing tracks, try to improvise regardless of how you sound. I hope some day it all starts coming together your comments are appreciated. What did the advance players now do back then when they were learning and did you guys feel the same frustrations?

Do whatever is the most fun for you as there's nothing that replaces putting in the hours and this is the best way to put in the practice time. As your technique and proficiency develops, you'll naturally adjust your approach to address your goals and deficiencies.

When I'm online reading news, forums, etc., I have a backing track playing and play along with it, experimenting as I go. My subconscious takes over. Harp in one hand and mouse in the other. Has really increased my proficiency and worked for me in terms of putting in general practise time.

I will often record my practice to listen too as I'm often oblivious to what I've played. It's amazing what can come out of the subconscious.

Now back to reading MBH and playing along to the Stray Cat Strut ...

Try to stand up as much as poss when practicing, this helps breathing right.

Hunched over the laptop aint ideal!

build up a collection of harp stuff (JJ Milteau, gary Primich, whatever and play along with it till you get it, easy!!!

Good luck and just enjoy yourself
