Why does Suzuki put a strip (sprue?) through the middle of the channels of the comb holes?
What other makers do this and why?
Is it structural, manufacturing, or sonic?

Manufacturing, stops the comb warping as it cools.

I believe it's a manufacturing thing--it's also in SP20's, last time I noticed. They are easy to cut out with a pair of those little side-cutters they use in electronic work--then about two hits with a fine bastard file and it disappears. I can't hear any difference in sound though--but I almost always put a custom comb in my harps anyway, so the stock one just goes into a drawer. . .

Thanks for messages.
And Lee Oskar: no sprue, almost identical features. (?)
