Hey everyone: I went into the studio in august with a band of old friends -katherine stevens (drums), mark rubinstein (bass), and sean carney (guitar). Some I have known for over 30 years. We have a full cd of material mixed but I have no interest in making cds or putting up a digital cd on the internet. If any of you do, we can cut you in on the profits. Here are a few sonng samples from a quick mix. The songs go pretty long in most cases. As usual it was all spontaneously done and I want to keep all the before the song starts dialouge and whatnots. It is like sitting in the studio with the band in an intimate setting. I want to call the cd:

Walter Tore and the Spontobeat allstars- a session with friends

I am open to ideas for title and thought the most painless way to go would be a digital download cd. This way the startup costs would be minimual. I am going to split the profits equally with all involved. email me if interested: waltertore@sbcglobal.net

Hey Walter, you should check out cdbaby (www.cdbaby.com)? it's real easy to get started and they automatically link you up with folks who do alot of the MP3 download stuff like: itunes, Amazon, Rhapsody, Spotify and more.

Matzen: Thanks but I have no inspiration to go beyond asking for someone to fill this role. I want this experience to be fun and doing it myself is not. If it ever gets released or not is no big deal for me unless it is painless. Walter

Hi Walter.

To be clear - are you saying that the tracks are all mixed and ready; all you need is to get them up on the internet for download?

BTW: I really like the sound of those previews!

hi arzajac: Yes they are done. I would like to do a final mix on them but if not they sound ok as is. We only spent about 40 minutes mixing the entire session. The mp3s I posted have some glitches but that is from me cut and pasting and are low sample mp3s (all my soundclick account allows). the full lenght songs are all good and will be on the highest mp3 sampling rate. I am hoping someone who finds uploading a digital cd as easy and fun as making the music was for me. I can provide info, and pictures. I have a pay pal account if that helps. That way everyone is doing what makes them happy and may make a few bucks to boot. Thanks for the compliment. I added a snippet of another featuring some cool guitar by sean carney. Sean's band, the sean carney band, won the International Blues Challenge in Memphis a few years ago and he won the albert king guitar player award as well. Mark has recorded and engineered on many platnimum, grammy, well known artists albums, as a bassist, pianist, and accordian player. Katherine has played big band for years as well as with me and a louisiana based gospel choir. I had great stuff behind me! Walter

thanks guys! The songs are downloading to cdbaby as I type. I figure it should all be done in a day or so. I decided to leave the songs totally uncut just as they unfolded that day. They are long, start out one way, end another, change around as they go, throat clearing due to the darn allegies around her, and have lots of "mess ups" in them. Fortunately I love messing up! Most every recording made since recording began has goals that are based on rehearsed, repeated, sellability, and perfection. With making up all my words and music as I go along, I live in a different universe and wanted to share how my songs come together with all the glitches, mess ups and all. I think I only used 1 or two harp keys on all the songs(stock marine band or stock delta frost), and the entire session took a couple hours to do including set up time. Mark and I spent about an hour mixing the songs and that included putting them to wave files. We pretty much found a good mix on the first song and it carried over to all of them. Our goal was to make it sound like it did without going heavy on things to give it the sound appeal most recordings today have and in the spirit of spontobeat- catch it quick and move on cause there are millions more songs waiting in the wings to be sung. Walter

walterharp: Thanks! I was amazed at how easy and cheap it was to upload a digital cd to cdbaby. It cost $59 total. That includes the session, mixdown/mastering, musicians, everything. Probably the cheapest pro level record ever made since they were ripping off the old blues guys:-). I don't plan on doing that. I will spilt the profits, after the 59 dollars is made, equally with all of us. The last offical record I made was in the early 80's. We needed a label, record pressing factory, million dollar studio, distribution, sign with SABAM, get a publishing company. What it amounted to was I have a few records still but never made a dime off it. I will see how sales go and if make back the 60 bucks I will sell some 1 man band cds there. Can't do any worse than I did with record companies back in the day! Walter
