Having a good time testing my skills as a solder-soldier. Tuned Lee Oskar low F plates down to Low D. Sound is awesome!
SOLDER TIP To drop pitch 3 semitones (F to D) use MORE on the lowest notes, and very LITTLE on the highest.
APPLICATION Take a solo with your G harp 2ndP D Next solo with Low D 1stP D, top octave blow bends

I was just preparing a vintage Marine Band in G to turn it into a Low-F powerbender using Blu-Tak.
I have had such good results with Blu-Tak that I don't plan on bothering with solder.
I mean by that that if I was to just use solder, I would probably screw it up...
Any chance you could post a photo of the reedplates? ----------

Show you mine if you show me yours...
I converted an 30-year-old MB in G to Low-F Powerbender. No swaping of reeds - just BlueTak!

The bead of water is to show the sealed comb.

Lots of BlueTak but it sounds and plays amazing! Much better sound than my Lee Oskar in Low-F.
I tilted the comb to roll the bead of water down for this photo...

I'm wondering how much solder there would be if I had used that instead of BlueTak. It must be denser so there must be less needed. ----------

Good idea, Andrew. I'll post some photos. Yes, less mass for heavier solder. ---------- Robert Hale Learn Harmonica via Webcam Low Rates, High Results DUKEofWAIL.com DUKEofWAIL YouTube
